What is the proper position for hands on the basketball when shooting?

Many times when I shoot, my hands slip on the ball. This makes the shot lean slightly to the elft or right, but its drastic enough so that a shot that would normally go in would hit the side of the backboard. I need to find the way to properly place my hands on the ball so my hands dont slip while shooting so that I can be more accurate.|||okay so what you do is put your shooting hand on the bottom of the ball while holding it make sure its balanced

then put your non shooting hand on the side of the ball to stabilize the ball, then just a flick of the wrist and voila!!

lol dont worry if you have problems in the beginning itll come to you though and itll take time

thats what happened to me|||The slipping may be due to moisture on the hands, but the proper hand positions are either the dominant hand behind the ball and the weak hand along the side or both hands along the edge of the back of the ball.|||Shooting hand on the bottom of the ball, other hand right on the side. Don't forget to keep your arms/elbows straight so that your hands could properly angle the shot.|||http://www.havenport.com/hosa/ehhowtosho鈥?/a>|||watch joakim noah...he has perfect shooting form|||choose which hand you are more comfortable with when shooting. put the ball on the ground and put the hand your most comfortable with and put it on top of it. put the other hand on the side. if you are more comfortable with your left hand put your right hand on the right side but if your more comfortable with the right hand put your left hand on the left side.then pick up the ballup to your waist and bend your shoulders.bend your knees. right before you jump push the ball up and release the ball while you jump. the rest is how you aim it and hw much power you put into it. if you are at the side and you can't see the whole square on the backboard make sure you aim it a little high and don't use too much power but if you can see the whole square aim and try to hit the square because yu have a better chance of making the shot if you are right in front of the hoop try to hit the top of the square. if your shot goes straight like a dart try to release when you reach your forehead. your shot should be like like a football throw that gores up then down. remember to follow through!! also make sure you hands are not wet or sweaty becaue maybe that is why it slips off. also try to use the offical nba or wnba ball or use a ball that isn't smooth because that makes it slippery. keep practicing!!
