What kind of consequences would there be for shooting an endangered animal in Australia?

If a man were to wrongfully shoot an endangered animal on his property, what kind of consequences would there be? Would he got to prison, or be fined? Both?

I've read that they might take away certain permits; could they take away a man's hunting permit for shooting an animal of an endangered species?|||Heavy fine or a jail term, depending on the circumstances. He would lose any hunting permit he had.
